How to apply for the audition
All students are required to audition in order to be considered for our programme. Please fill out the registration form to apply for the audition. In order for your application to be processed quickly and efficiently you must fill out the form completely. All correspondence is done through email so be sure to give us your correct email address. Please send us your CV with your dance experience and a short description as to why you want to become a dance artist, plus two passport photos (5×4) (dance photos are not required) and a copy of your identification card or passport.
Your application will be processed as we soon as we have obtained your online registration form. A non-refundable fee is payable in advance by all applicants in order to reserve an audition place (bank details and fees).
You can also choose to audition by video.
The audition day
Our day begins at 11:00 a.m. Make sure that you arrive between 10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. to register and warm up thoroughly for the first technique class. Please wear a unitard or leotard/tights, bare feet for contemporary no socks please, and ballet shoes for ballet class. We advise you to wear long sleeves and something on the legs for the improvisation and contemporary classes as it reduces friction and eases movement during the floor work.
The purpose of the audition is to allow the faculty to assess your physical potential, your ability to perform under pressure and your creativity. It will also show us your ability to critically think and understand the tasks given.
The following tasks will allow you the opportunity to demonstrate your skills and abilities through:
- Dance technique class (Ballet and Contemporary)
- Improvisation
- Jazz
- Repertoire
- Personal interview with the faculty
Private audition
Berlin Dance Institute invites all future dance artists to spend two days with us at our beautiful dance campus. These two days will give you the opportunity to participate in our programme, to meet the faculty and spend time with our beautiful students. This is also your chance to audition for us and to fulfill your dream of becoming a dance artist through our education programme.
If you cannot attend one of the open auditions, please contact us and we will arrange a time for you to come and visit the school.
There is no pre-selection process.
Acceptance
Candidates are made aware of the audition results two weeks after the audition has taken place. There are two result categories:
- The candidate is accepted into the 3-year education programme and a place is reserved for the next academic year.
- The candidate is put on a final short list and will be informed after the last audition for the academic year has taken place.
Please note that upon acceptance a refundable fee is paid to reserve your place. The fee is placed in a bank account and is refunded upon completion of the programme (bank details and fees).
